History

Our company was founded in 1957 by Oscar Murray and Floyd Holt. The company was located in downtown Bend on the corner of Bond and Oregon streets, and called Ward Motors Company. In 1958, a new dealership facility was built at the corner of Third & Franklin Avenues, our present location, and has been doing business as Murray and Holt Motors, Inc. since that time.

Product lines carried in 1957 included Pontiac, G.M.C. and Buick. Toyota and Oldsmobile were added in the 1960's, and Suzuki in the 1990's. In the mid-seventies, Toyota was spun off as a separate and distinct corporation and operated independently. Oldsmobile ceased operations in 2005.

In 1967, Floyd Holt purchased the stock that Oscar Murray had held, and became the sole owner of Murray & Holt Motors.

Floyd Holt passed away in 1975 and at that time Jack Holt became president and Dave Holt was vice-president. In 1979, Jack Holt bought the entire stock from Dave Holt and was the sole owner. In July 1982, James Harris, Bill Larson, and Ruby Malmstrom became part owner and board members of Murray and Holt Motors, Inc.
